A Guide to Veterans Guide to Long-Term Care Benefits
As a veteran, you may be entitled to various long-term care benefits to help cover the cost of long-term care. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) offers several programs and services that provide financial assistance and support for veterans who need help with activities of daily living, nursing care, therapy, and other support services. These benefits include the Aid and Attendance (A&A) benefit, which provides financial assistance for home care, assisted living, or nursing home care; the Veterans Directed Care (VDC) program, which allows veterans to self-direct their long-term care services; Community Living Centers (CLCs), which are VA-operated nursing homes; and State Veterans Homes, which are facilities operated by individual states and partially funded by the VA. To access these benefits, veterans must meet specific eligibility criteria and follow the application process for each program. Additional resources, such as the VA Caregiver Support Program, VA benefits counselors, and Veterans Service Organizations, are available to provide support and assistance.
